Reese’s Halloween Crunchy Chocolate Cookie Pieces

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

Snacks disappear, it is part of life. Halloween snacks disappear more rapidly than any other snack. This is usually because they are terrible snacks that don’t even deserve to have their own bin during the Halloween season. This year I found an exception I wanted to latch onto. But it’s going to go away forever I’m sure. Typically candy / cookie combinations are failures for me. They are too sweet or by mixing the two, cancel out the fun and texture of the individual snacks. That’s fine, I won’t ever fault companies or people from trying.Reese's Crunchy Chocolate Cookie

This year for the brief moment that it’s available, I want to say that the lengthy named Reese’s Pieces Crunchy Chocolate Cookie were the right combinations. Reese’s did the smart thing, they kept the snack light, lighter than the normal Reese’s Pieces in fact. I bought the 9 oz bag at the grocery store and ever since I finished them I thought, man, this snack deserves much more than the thirty-day span it’s going to get. If you said, M&M’s were to disappear in lieu of this snack, I’d be fine with that. I don’t have a link for you to get these, they aren’t even advertised on the Hershey / Reese’s website, look for them in the Halloween displays at your local grocery. Maybe next October, they will bring back the snack again.

Celebrating the Mojito

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

I’ve only had the pleasure of one of these beverages in my life but I recommend them.  I recommend them over nearly any type of martini.  Does an alcoholic drink really deserve to be on a snack hunting website?  Well, perhaps it doesn’t fit perfectly snug in here next to the Nutter Butters and the pita chips, but I’ll make an exception.  A mojito is a rum based drink with spearmint leaves crushed inside.  It’s very refreshing and I think one could definitely create fun variations from it.

Here’s a link about the mojito from everyone’s favorite accuracy challenged site wikipedia. (I love that site along with it’s imperfections.

Here’s how to make a mojito from the food network, and here’s a wikibook on making a mojito.

I’m so original - Kettle Spicy Thai Chips, blah blah blah

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

I saw this bag of Spicy Thai Kettle chips the other day when I was browsing the World Market. I instantly thought, what a perfect snack to try out and even maybe write about. I should have known anything at World Market is hardly new. Still though I will compliment Kettle Foods for concocting the flavor. It was fun and much better than those awful plain Lays that have more street credit than they deserve. And I won’t get sad despite that these chips were already reviewed here and here. So I’m like a year too late. The reason I’m not getting mad is because I found a cool snack store to buy from. It’s called the Snack Aisle. I’m off to go watch this new TV show I just heard about called “Lost.”
